Actors list Mad Men-inspired apartment
Actor Ben Mingay and his wife, fellow actor Kirby Burgess, are selling their waterfront Lane Cove apartment.
The couple bought the apartment at 33/300C Burns Bay Rd, Lane Cove, about two years ago and have done some impressive remodelling.

Mr Mingay is currently in Adelaide, rehearsing for the lead role in Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street for the State Opera, which opens on May 8 at Her Majesty’s Theatre.
He has had busy 12 months, starring in television series Frayed and Amazing Grace, and also finding time to appear on stage in another State Opera production, Carousel, and played the loveable ogre in Shrek The Musical.
Ms Burgess is an actor, dancer and singer. She appeared on The Voice last year. She is currently starring in the stage show The Wedding Singer.
Speaking to the North Shore Times this week, Mr Mingay said he and his wife had fallen in love with their Lane Cove apartment the moment they saw it.
He was already acquainted with the Marina complex, at 300C Burns Bay Rd, having previously owned another apartment there.
“This one was the best in the block,” he said.
“The block is right on the water and being on the first floor means it has the biggest balcony space – the water is literally right there in front of you.”
The couple was inspired by their shared love of the television series Mad Men when they redesigned the apartment. They combined the two bedrooms to create a luxury main suite with walk-in wardrobe, and installed a green chair railing in the living space.
“It’s very Mad Men which we love,” Mr Mingay said. “It’s quite a large apartment, and being at the back of the property, it’s so private.
“It’s just a haven when you’re there.”
Mr Mingay said the couple was so busy working around Australia they felt the time was right to sell.
“Kirby is on tour with The Wedding Singer and I am over here (in Adelaide), we thought it was a good time to take advantage of the market,” he said.
“It’s quite a sought-after block so I’m quite excited to see how the sale goes.”
Shelley McShane, of Atlas by LJ Hooker Lower North Shore, has been appointed to sell the apartment.
“The apartment would be suited to an investor or buyer looking to secure a city pad or an executive couple that wants to enjoy living in a waterfront sanctuary,” she said.
“The property is moments to Figtree Village shops, the cosmopolitan hub of Lane Cove Village and the Canopy precinct. Plus the chic cafe culture of Hunters Hill, whilst the CBD’s of Chatswood and Sydney are a short drive away
“I particularly love that when you are inside the apartment looking out to Lane Cove River, you are instantly transformed into feeling like you’re on holiday with the convenience of being so close to the city centre.”
Ms McShane plans to take it to auction next month with a guide of $850,000. Ms McShane said the apartment would suit an investor or buyer looking to secure a waterfront lifestyle close to the city.
