Adele and JLaw Are Serious Friendship Goals
Jennifer Lawrence and Adele are giving us some major friendship GOALS!
Today, Adele was announced on TIME’s list of 100 most influential people – and rightfully so. Whilst Nicki Minaj’s tribute was written by Lil Wayne, one of Adele’s gal-pals and oscar-winning actress, Jennifer Lawrence, nostalgically penned a beautiful essay about her (making us wish she was our friend too).
JLaw opened up about the first time she met the “Hello” singer at the 2013 Oscars:
“I remember sneaking backstage while she performed ‘Skyfall,’ trying to squeeze a ball gown past a pile of ropes and cables just to get a little closer,” Lawrence, 25, recalls. “See her from another angle as if to peek behind the Great Oz’s curtain.”
Sticking to her relatable personality, Lawrence injects “saying ‘fan’ about Adele always sounds like an understatement, doesn’t it?” – Ummm YES!
Jennifer then goes on to explain to all the non-Adele lovers why her album, 21, sold 30 million copies worldwide: “Then when 21 came out, mine and billions of other lives were—not to sound dramatic—changed. Suddenly there were words to that before-indescribable pain, frustration, sadness, then revolution that all comes from a breakup. I felt understood, I felt stronger, and above all, I hadn’t sung in front of a mirror with a hairbrush since Destiny’s Child.”
The article continued as the Hunger Games actress referred to Adele as “being so young with the most successful in the world” and despite her age, having a “500 year old wisdom” partnered with “all her patience and kindness wrapped up in the tough skin of a damn gangster.”
In her concluding paragraph, Jennifer gushes about the “incredibly private” off-camera Adele who she portrays to be just as incredible as her public self.
“We all see her success. Her undeniable talent and beauty. But what you don’t see is what a wonderful mother she is. What a wonderful partner and friend she is. That she makes her son’s Halloween costumes. Adele is a gift, an international treasure, but she’s also sweet, funny, intelligent and beautiful. Bitch.”
The Sunday Times Rich List announced Adele to be worth £85 million, making her Britain’s wealthiest ever female musician. Although, with such genuine friends like JLaw, we can see that she still remains very grounded and that her riches haven’t gone to her head just yet!
