Anna Gunn is an American actress. She is known for her roles on the series Breaking Bad, The Practice, and Deadwood.
Her paternal great-great-grandfather, William R. Day, was a diplomat and jurist, who was U.S. Secretary of State, from April 28, 1898 to September 16, 1898, and an Associate Justice of the Supreme Court of the United States, from March 2, 1903 to November 13, 1922. Her mother is of almost entirely Eastern European, Polish and Slovak, descent.
She has two children with her former husband, Scottish actor and real estate broker Alastair Duncan.
Anna’s paternal grandfather was Clemens Earle Gunn (the son of Earl/Earle Leland Gunn and Rose/Rosa C. Clemens). Anna’s grandfather Clemens was born in Cleveland, Cuyahoga, Ohio. He was President of the Cleveland Stock Exchange, and Mayor of Mackinac Island, on Lake Huron, Michigan. Earl was the son of Charles Henry Gunn and Elizabeth Ann “Lizzie” Whitlock, who was English. Rose was the daughter of George J. Clemens, whose parents were German, with his father having been from Bavaria; and of Salina “Nina” Hill.
Anna’s paternal grandmother was Ida McKinley Day (the daughter of Luther N. Day and Ida McKinley Barber). Anna’s grandmother Ida was born in Canton, Stark, Ohio. Luther was the son of William Rufus Day and Mary Elizabeth Schaefer, whose father was from Moselle, France. Rufus was the son of Republican politician and judge Luther Day, a maternal grandson of politician Rufus Paine Spalding, who was a Member of the U.S. House of Representatives from Ohio, from March 4, 1863 to March 3, 1869, and a maternal great-grandson of author, judge, and politician Zephaniah Swift, who was a Member of the U.S. House of Representatives from Connecticut, from March 4, 1793 to March 3, 1797. Anna’s great-grandmother Ida was the daughter of Marshall C. Barber, whose mother was born in Swabia, Germany; and of Mary B. Saxton, whose grandfather founded the Canton Repository newspaper.
Anna’s maternal grandfather was Joseph Edward Peters (born Piotrowski, the son of Joseph Piotrowski and Stella Laskowski). Anna’s grandfather Joseph was born in Cleveland, Cuyahoga, Ohio, of Polish descent.
