Brie Larson, with the full name Brianne Sidonie Desaulniers, was born in Sacramento, California, on October 1, 1989.

She is a daughter to Sylvain Desaulniers (father), a Franco-Manitoban, and Heather (mother). Both her parents were homoeopathic chiropractors who operated a practice together.

She has a sister named Milena Desaulniers.

During her childhood, Brie Larson spoke French as her first language. She shared a relatively close bond with her mother, although she suffered from social anxiety, thus was shy in public.
