Mark Ruffalo shared heartbreaking photos of children paying tribute to Chadwick Boseman who portrayed Black Panther in the Marvel Cinematic Universe on his official Twitter account. The world has been left shaken after it was announced that Chadwick lost his fight against stage four colon cancer on August 28, 2020. Chadwick kept his illness a secret and no one in the public knew his death was imminent.

It shook his fans to the core and his young fans are devastated. Many parents are now finding themselves speaking to their children about Chadwick’s passing and helping their youngsters come to terms with his death.

Mark Ruffalo shared two photos of children who are finding their own ways to grieve, memorialize, and pay tribute to their superhero — T’Challa/Black Panther.

The pain is evident on the children’s faces. One child has his eyes closed as it appears he is offering a prayer. The other child’s eyes are filled with tears. Both have their arms folded across their chest in the Wakanda salute.

The way they have memorialized Chadwick Boseman as Black Panther, however, is what is most touching.

The children have placed their action figures in a large circle and in both, Black Panther is down. The action figures are surrounding their fallen mate and are holding a ceremony for him.

The images are powerful and show just how deeply they are feeling Chadwick’s untimely death and how they are processing the loss of Black Panther.

Mark Ruffalo stated the following and while many are using the hashtag #WakandaForever, he used #ChadwickForever. The hashtag has been trending across all social media platforms.

This is his power and impact on the next generation. #ChadwickForever

Children have been going through a great deal with the Coronavirus pandemic, the closings of school, and the inability to spend time with family and friends the way they are used to. Parents and guardians should be alert to their child’s emotions and understand that though Black Panther is a fictional character, children will need to come to terms with Chadwick Boseman’s death.

Please speak to your children if they are showing emotional upset or turmoil over Chadwick’s death and do not trivialize what it means to them. They may need to hold their own ceremony as a way of grieving and memorializing one of their beloved superheroes.
