Paul Scholes is an English football coach, former player, pundit, and co-owner of Salford City who is best known for his career as a midfielder with Manchester United. He announced his retirement from playing in May 2011 and later started serving as the coach of Manchester United. In October 2020, he was announced as the head coach of Salford City. Paul Scholes suffered from asthma and was also diagnosed early in his career with Osgood–Schlatter disease, which is a knee problem that is common in young athletes.

Along with his former Manchester United teammates – Ryan Giggs, Nicky Butt, Phil Neville and Gary Neville, he has 50 percent stake in Salford City club.

In 2014, he served as a coach with Manchester United backroom staff under his friend Ryan Giggs, who was appointed as an interim boss for four matches.

During his career, he was often criticized for his poor tackling, which is the reason behind him holding the record for most yellow cards in UEFA Champions League. He was given 32 yellow cards.

While playing for Manchester United, he won astonishing 25 major trophies including 11 Premier League titles, 2 Champions Leagues and 3 FA cups.

In 1993, he was a part of the English squad that went on to win UEFA European Under-18 Championship after overcoming Turkey in the tournament final held at Nottingham ground.
