Salems Lot Actor Lance Kerwins Death How Did He Die?

The news of famous actor Lance Kerwin’s death has taken over the internet since Tuesday, 24th Jan 2023.

Lance Kerwin, a famous child actor well-known for his parts in the 1970s television series “James at 15” and another series based on Stephen King’s “Salem’s Lot,” passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday at the age of 62.

He was found dead at his San Clemente, California, home. His daughter, Savanah Kerwin, announced his demise on Facebook and said the family is awaiting the results of an autopsy because no reason for his death has been identified.

When Kerwin was 16 years old, he was selected to portray James at 15 in the mini-series that doubled as the launch for an NBC series with the same title. James Hunter, an aspiring photographer who moved with his parents from Oregon to Boston, underwent a journey that was the theme of the 21-episode television series.

The series made Kerwin a teenage hero while dealing with serious issues, including s*x, drunkenness, and pregnancy.

The famous critic Tom Shales wrote for the Washington Post, “while “James at 15” was “not perfect, not revolutionary, not always deliriously urgent,” it was “still the most respectable new entertainment series of the season.”

“And if it romanticizes adolescence through the weekly trials and triumphs of its teenage hero,” he added, “at least it does so in more ambitious, inquisitive, and authentic ways than the average TV teeny-bop.”

A screenplay for the series that would have given it the new title “James at 16” and featured James losing his virginity to a female student on his sixteenth birthday caused problems with NBC’s censors.

The show’s author, novelist Dan Wakefield, said that the network complained about the script’s usage of the word “responsible” as a synonym for birth control and demanded that the episode only broadcast “if the youngster pays for it in some way or is punished.”

Wakefield resigned as a result of the conflict before the episode’s airing in Feb 1978. In May of the same year, the series was canceled.

Lance Kerwin’s background and origin

The famous rapper Lance Michael Kerwin was born in Newport Beach, Calif on 6th Nov 1960 to the couple of Don and Lewis Kerwin. According to Lance, he was super addicted to television until he was in the fourth grade.

According to what he told New York Times in 1982, the rapper was unable to read because of his addiction to television.

When his parents split up, they decided to unplug the television for Lance. He said, “Every day after school I would come home and read out loud with my mother and stepfather — stories, plays and scripts that they would bring home from work.”

Lance Kerwin is married to his wife, Yvonne Kerwin, and they have four children together named Terah, Kailani, Fox, Savanah, and Justus.

In 2010, Kerwin tried to provide fake documents in order to obtain food stamps and medical assistance in Hawaii due to which he was charged with second-degree theft and sentenced to probation of five years and 300 hours of community service.

He was awarded leniency in the sentence since he had pleaded guilty to the charges.
