Tom Cruise rehires his sister as publicist

Tom Cruise seems to have learned the error of his ways. After letting his sister Lee Anne Devette go as his publicist in 2004, Tom has rehired her. Lee Anne was excused from her position (it doesn’t seem like she was really fired) after Tom’s PR nightmare on the Oprah Winfrey show. He eventually hired a professional team to take over.

With Katie Holmes hard at work in Broadway’s All My Sons, her husband Tom Cruise has been relying more and more on the help of his sister, Lee Anne Devette, to keep his life running smoothly – and that includes his public life!

Devette, who was Tom’s publicist in 2004 when he did his now infamous couch jumping performance on the Oprah Winfrey Show, was pushed to the side when a new PR firm took over, just 20 months into the job. Now, OK! has learned exclusively that Tom’s sister is back in the driver’s seat, acting once again as his publicist.

“Lee Anne is running Tom’s life,” a source tells OK! exclusively. “She is back in his business meetings and playing a very influential role in his every decision.”

Unfortunately for Tom, hiring a professional firm won’t do any good if you don’t stop acting like a nutball in public. And no one, no matter how professional, can make Xenu sound rational. Especially when you won’t stop talking about him. And accusing Matt Lauer of being glib. And criticizing Brooke Shields for taking anti-depressants. And about any of the other PR hiccups he’s brought upon himself in the last few years. Unless Tom can hire someone to teach him to be more sane and rational, paying for PR services is kind of a waste. Unfortunately the people that teach you how to be sane are psychologists and psychiatrists. Oh well, he can just pop some more vitamins.
